While a lot has been said about the supply chain and the current crisis in terms of shortages of chips and, well, just about everything, not enough has been said about the amazing people keeping the supply chain going at companies like Microart. So, let’s hear it for those professionals whose workload has quadrupled in the last few months, who come in every day and do battle with suppliers, logistics providers and brokers in search of those parts that keep our lines operating and products flowing to our customers.
Our team is not unique, but every day I am blown away by the work they do and the professionalism they display. Every day they are presented with a new problem, a new challenge, a new shortage. And every day they take that challenge and search out a solution, leaving no stone unturned, doing whatever it takes to get what’s needed and help us provide product and visibility.
While new technology, new software and even AI might help with supply chain visibility and traceability, it is the tenacity and a good old-fashioned desire to get stuff done that is carrying us through right now.
From the boardrooms of technology companies to the corridors of power, lofty topics like supply chain security, agility and resilience are being discussed as critical issues for the future of industries and even countries.
But at the grassroots, where the rubber hits the road, it’s all about getting that last part of the bill of materials that means production can be completed, operators can work, orders get shipped, customers and consumers can be satisfied and cash flow can be eased a little.
Then it’s on to the next part shortage, and so it goes…
So, let’s all take a second out of our busy days to thank our supply chain professionals. Whether we are the customer, the supplier, or the employer! Thank you for being the critical link that is holding our supply chain together. You’re doing amazing work in difficult circumstances!
