POSITION: Mechanical Assembler



SHIFT(S): Day Shift (7:30 AM to 4:00PM)

REPORTS TO:  Shift Supervisor

Role Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to assemble electronic components according to assembly books, custom specifications, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manual assembly of electronic components, including complex and high-density projects according to assembly books, custom specifications and quality standards
  • Reviews process documentation for any special requirements and follows set procedures
  • Mechanical assembly as required
  • Component preparation, placement and/or installation
  • Final assembly and/or pack and ship as required
  • Perform hand soldering, inspection, and rework of all thru-hole, SMT, mixed assemblies and custom parts
  • Participate in training and certification programs to ensure job knowledge and skill set requirements are updated regularly
  • Participate in all team-level quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensures the work area is kept clean and that safety rules are followed


  • Working knowledge of surface mount assembly and inspection; previous mechanical assembly work experience is preferred
  • Ability to identify components and component values
  • Ability to work with loupe / microscope
  • Ability to hand solder, de-solder and identify solder bridging
  • Ability to rework printed circuit assemblies and replace components
  • Previous experience working on SMT/TH or Mix Tech assemblies
  • Working knowledge of IPC 610 workmanship standards (certification preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand assembly documentation
  • Ability to communicate in written and spoken English
  • Flexibility to work overtime and/or other shifts according to business needs
  • Strong understanding and application of workmanship standards
  • Thorough understanding and application of quality standards and control procedures
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team
  • Individual should be detail oriented, quality conscious, well organized, analytical and reliable
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
